ActivitesArtisticThe travelling Contrabass in the Mediterranean Sea

It is a project under the patronage of Mr. Thierry Petit, an Orchestra French violinist at the Montpellier National Orchestra. The idea of the project is an initiative to bring together six countries, six music groups, six composers and a large number of pupils from the Mediterranean schools on the production of cross-cultural music.

To link these countries to each other, Mr. Thierry sailed the Mediterranean in his sailing boat, which was actually a recording studio.

From France to Spain, then to Tunisia and Greece, through Lebanon and to Egypt, each country took on the task of carrying out part of the joint work. Therefore, symphony orchestra and a school from each country were chosen as authorized partners of the project. The children wrote, sang, and recorded lyrics, each in their own language.

A choir was chosen by the Institute of Saint Jeanne Antide led by Mireille Banoub, to represent Egypt in this new experiment.

On March 31, 2017, a musical concert was held in the theater of our institute. The preparatory and secondary students sang the musical poems of the six countries, written in different languages. The Alexandrian ladies learnt Spanish and Greek, in order to get the job well done!

The peculiarity of this kind of concert is the possibility of watching the foreign singers and listening to their voices at the same time as our choir through a giant screen display. The experiment was a great success, clearly seen on the faces of the audience.

The travelling contrabass is a great adventure to strengthen the bonds of friendship among peoples from different countries !

ActivitesArtisticArt competition

For the second year, the Egyptian Committee for Peace and Justice organized an art competition in the Republic under the title “Draw peace with your hands.”

The first goal of the competition was to launch the creative talents of children from the age of 10 to 15 years old, to express their imaginations with their colours and brushes.

This year the participation of the Institute in the competition has increased. About 60 pupils from primary and preparatorydepartments presented exquisite paintings in oil, gouache and pencil. Eleven pupils won 200 pounds and certificates of appreciation were distributed to all participants.

book that contained all the works of the participants was published which had a great effect on enhancing the pupils who didn’t win the competition this year.

Art is the means used to express ideas and consolidate the concepts, so the real success of the contest was not only in the distribution of prizes to the talented but also it was in spreading the culture of peace, which we all need in our communities by such young creative students.

ActivitiescultureLaunch of the Moving Library

Taking books away from their traditional places is an important cultural step that facilitates access to information.

The “Moving Library” as the name indicates, is a library that moves around in the playground to attract students and specially those who were not used to visiting the library.

It is a cargo that is full of paper booksas well as digitalones. The aim is to suit the taste of all.

In front of the canteen or in the vineyard, the cargo stops where there are seats. Pupils are attracted to it because of its bright colours and beautiful shape and they start using it freely.

A group of students from the cultural committee help the teacherresponsible of the project to develop an operating system for the library and make announcements for competitions and they manage the process enthusiastically.

The book in our Institute is considered a crown! It can be found outside the classes like in the French library as well as in the Arabic and English one. This is in addition to the library in the kindergarten department.
